Although UK house prices have risen in value significantly over the past 20 years, it’s still possible to find properties on the market today for £20,000 or less, which is the price of an average family car, according to research by Housesimple.com.

You could buy the 10 cheapest properties for sale today for a total of £190,000, which is less than the average house price in the UK of £226,798.

The cheapest property on the market in the UK is a studio flat in North Shields, with a guide price of £17,000. The cheapest house is a two-bed terraced in Hunslet Lane, Burnley, listed at £19,950.
