When it comes to ways to sell your home, you’re probably most familiar with traditional high street agents — but there are actually quite a few different options out there. Here are the offline options you normally have: 

Traditional Agent

You’re probably familiar with traditional agents, with brick and mortar locations. To sell with them, you get a valuation and then sign a contract — which often locks you into an agreement with them for up to 13 weeks. While they have the benefit of having an office, you’ll be paying for it — traditional estate agents usually charge anywhere from 0.75% to 3% of the purchase price. Depending on the price of your home, you’re likely to be sending thousands — or even tens of thousands — of pounds their way. We think that’s money that you could be using for your new home. At Auction

A lot of people like the idea of an auction for a quick sale — and, in some cases, it can be quick. But there are a couple of catches. You often don’t get the same price at auction that you would get elsewhere, plus you have to deal with the fees. You may have to pay a flat fee and an auctioneer’s fee, which can be as high as 2.5%. It may be quick, but it may not be very good value for money.

And it might be the right choice for you, but there are a few things you have to keep in mind. Firstly, if you’re selling privately, then you’re likely selling to friends or family — and you may not feel comfortable negotiating or getting the highest price from people you care about.
