Changes to the way stamp duty is applied to property purchases will lead to substanial savings for over one million homebuyers. 

Alex Gosling of Online Estate Agent Housesimple suggests that stamp duty reform would have been even more effective if the zero percent band had been extended to properties up to £250,000 but concedes that 'something is better than nothing.'
