"The key when it comes to negotiating with the seller is not to shoot yourself in the foot and go in with too high an offer at the start. Most sellers won't expect the buyer to offer the asking price from the outset and will be ready and prepared to negotiate. ’If you go in too high you'll have no room to manoeuvre when it comes to negotiating. The London market is an exception because it's very much a seller's market, so you may be advised to go in with close to or the full asking price if you want to beat off the competition."
