Update on Covid-19

We are living through a time of unprecedented change - a difficult time for everyone. While our mission is to make moving simple, transparent and free, our top priority must be the safety and well-being of our customers, staff and partners.

Latest information as of Thursday 14th May 2020

The Government’s advice on home moving during the Covid-19 outbreak has changed so that people who wish to move home can do so. Here are your questions answered to reassure you that we are doing everything we can for customers to buy and sell their homes safely.

What does this mean if I am in the process of buying or selling a house?

It is now possible to re-start the process of buying or selling a house, including viewing properties, surveying, conveyancing and other steps. We ask that everyone be as flexible as possible as we adapt to new processes and procedures to reduce the risk of spreading coronavirus as far as possible.

If anyone in your household is self-isolating or displaying symptoms of coronavirus then you should not be progressing with a house sale until it is safe for you to do so.

What does this mean if I want a valuation?

We can value your home and get you on the market, simply book a valuation. Valuations will be carried out virtually wherever possible, by video (using Whatsapp, FaceTime or Zoom for example).

It is possible to carry out physical valuations and photography visits, should they be required. Our Local Property Partners and homeowners must follow the government guidelines if a valuation has to take place in person:

  • Clean your hands immediately before and after the visit

  • Minimise contact with surfaces during the visit and clean surfaces such as door handles afterwards

  • Leave internal doors open and keep spaces free of clutter

  • Restrict the number of people present, if at all possible

What does this mean if I want to list my property?

We understand that many people will still be considering moving either now or in the future. Your Local Property Partner will discuss what is right for you during your valuation and we will work in your best interests, whether that’s now or in the future.

Can property viewings take place?

Yes, property viewings are now permitted by the government, as per latest guidance

Our advice to all buyers and vendors is to carry out viewings virtually wherever possible (using Whatsapp, FaceTime or Zoom for example). Simply book a viewing through the website and use our chat facility to arrange it.

Physical viewings should only be carried out if deemed necessary and both seller and buyer consent to doing so safely.  Open house viewings should not take place.

Please follow government guidelines in the event of a physical viewing:

  • Maintain a minimum of 2 metres distance from others wherever possible

  • Clean your hands immediately before and after the viewing

  • Minimise contact with surfaces during the visit and clean surfaces such as door handles afterwards

  • Leave internal doors open and keep spaces free of clutter

  • Restrict the number of people present, if at all possible

If you’d prefer not to host viewings yourself but still wish to progress the sale of your property we do offer a hosted viewings service. Please contact us if you’d like to find out more.

Please direct any offers through Housesimple so we can guide you through the negotiation process and get you the best possible outcome.
