Summer spotlight: our favourite homes with pools

by Housesimple on 8th August 2017

According to a recent survey, a swimming pool ranks among the top features Brits want in their dream home, trumping conservatories, ponds and wine cellars. Perhaps it’s the rise of at-home fitness or the continuing staycation boom – either way it seems that pools are here to stay and there are some great ones on the market right now.

Six-bed detached house, Doseley, Telford - £687,500

Telford might be a new town, but this beautiful Grade II listed church conversion proves the area has plenty of history too. Better still, its pool is both indoor and outdoor, thanks to a smart glass roof that can slide back for summer. The property also boasts two self-contained apartments that could be used for extra income, as well as a large workshop area, so it’s practical as well as pretty.

Two-bed flat, Marsh Wall, London - £865,000

There are plenty of swanky London developments with a pool, but few match the style and pizazz of this new complex near Canary Wharf. The eco block has a 25-metre pool set within lush gardens, alongside a private cinema and residents' lounge on the 53rd floor.

Two-bed flat, Sackville Street, Manchester - £220,000

This redevelopment in the centre of Manchester shows that London residents aren’t the only ones pampered with pools and that it’s not just new builds that have all the mod cons. Buyers get a sizeable flat, a historic setting, a gym and private pool for a steal in the heart of the city. Who says you can’t have your cake and eat it too?

Four-bed farmhouse, Barr, Girvan - £520,000

With classy beams and a spiral staircase indoors, as well as mountains and rivers in the nearby countryside, this stunning farmhouse by Galloway Forest Park has it all. Except a pool. So what are we thinking? Well, it has planning permission for a pool and extra barn conversions – even just the potential adds value.

Five-bed detached house, Spring Copse, Oxford - £1,280,000

The perfect fusion of urban and rural, modern and rustic, this stunning property features wooden beams, exposed brick and shiny metalwork. The stylish architecture is overshadowed only by the extra amenities. As well as the heated pool, there’s a workshop, gym, jacuzzi, Japanese garden, greenhouse, mature fruit trees and surrounding woodland to explore.
