There's something quite romantic about owning a little home by the sea. With the potential for panoramic sea views and the sound of waves as you walk out your front door, it's no wonder that so many people dream of moving to the coast. If you can't quite bring yourself to relocate, you might instead want to buy a holiday home right by the beach so you have a relaxing spot to escape to. If so, now is apparently the best time to invest in a seaside holiday let, as British coastal vacations are on the rise.
If you're looking to buy a property by the sea, take a look at our five favourite coastal homes currently on the market.
Five bedroom detached house in Penarth
With unobstructed views right down to the sea, this modern home in the Vale of Glamorgan, Wales, is a luxurious family property with plenty of living space. Its south-facing garden reaches all the way down to a quiet coastal path and the beach. It's also got a large garage for storing kids' toys, bikes or even surf boards and other water sports items.
Four bedroom terraced house in Westcliff-on-Sea
As well as sweeping sea views, this terraced house has four balconies and a sauna. It's also only 45 minutes from London by train, which is great for commuters. The property is mainly open plan and has recently had a new kitchen added, which is perfect for hosting family and friends for dinner. This may not be our cheapest seaside property for sale, but it is a rare gem that's sure to get snapped up quickly.
Three bedroom flat in Whitby
This ground floor flat in Yorkshire is a great property investment for anyone wanting to buy a holiday let. With impressive turrets, a self-contained studio and parking for up to five cars, this light and spacious home is ideal for families. The flat also enjoys sea views and a great location in Whitby, which was voted one of the UK's most picturesque seaside towns.
Three bedroom semi-detached house in Mousehole
Properties in this quaint Cornish fishing village don't come on the market very often, so this Grade II listed building with sea views from the front garden is sure to be snapped up soon. Named Poldark Cottage, it would make an ideal holiday home to escape to on the weekends or to rent out.
Three bedroom townhouse in Port Talbot
With beautiful views of Aberavon sea front, this three-storey house is a 15-minute drive from Swansea and only 25 minutes from Cardiff. It's also close to a lively hub of shops, bars and restaurants, so you would have plenty of amenities on your doorstep.
